Accidents at Work

The majority of the accidents which we deal with in Maguire McClafferty LLP relate to accidents at work. If you have suffered an accident at work, you may, in certain circumstances, be entitled to make a claim for compensation.

Irish Law is very strict about the duties which an employer owes to an employee to ensure that the employee has a safe place of work and a safe system of work. If your employer fails to meet the standard required by law, then you may be entitled to compensation for any injury suffered by you as a result along with all out of pocket expenses to include medical expenses, hospital charges and loss of earnings.

Some of the accidents at work which we have handled over the past number of years include manual handling, injuries caused by lifting and carrying heavy items. A lot of our clients work in warehouses and distribution centres where the demands made of them by their employers are very often excessive and often result in serious back, arm and shoulder injuries.

Construction Accidents

There is no end to the different types of accident which can occur on a building site. They are treacherous places to work and very often result in accidents as a result of workers falling from scaffolding and ladders or working in proximity to heavy machinery. Over the years we have handled hundreds of these types of cases.

Trips and Falls

Workers very often slip, trip and fall as a result of uneven work surfaces or water, oil or other substances on the floor. Again we have handled many of these cases over the years.

Working in factories

Working in factories can result in workers being exposed to dangerous chemicals and substances, subjected to heavy lifting, repetitive work or simply being collided into by another employee who is operating a vehicle and not paying proper attention.

Working with Heavy Machinery

Very often workers suffer injury as a result of working with and handling heavy machinery, particularly machinery which is not properly serviced or has been adapted badly for a particular task or function or which does not have proper protective guards.

The list of potential accidents at work is virtually endless.
